Pizza
The pizza's adaptability borders on the miraculous. This singular concept has generated countless regional variations that bear little resemblance to one another. New York's thin, foldable slices exist in the same category as Chicago's deep-dish casseroles. Japanese pizza features mayonnaise and corn. Brazilian pizza commonly includes peas. The pizza adapts to every dietary restriction: vegan cheese, gluten-free crusts, cauliflower bases. It transitions seamlessly from street food to gourmet dining. Pizza exists at every price point, from one-dollar slices to truffle-adorned creations costing hundreds. No other food item demonstrates such remarkable plasticity whilst maintaining core identity.
Shrek
The ogre has demonstrated meaningful adaptability within his domain. The character transitioned successfully across four feature films, each with distinct narrative challenges. Shrek proved capable of supporting spin-off content including the Puss in Boots franchise. The character adapted to theatrical productions, becoming a Broadway musical. Shrek has been recontextualised endlessly by internet culture, transformed into memes that bear little relationship to the original films yet maintain the character's cultural relevance. However, Shrek remains fundamentally constrained by his fictional nature. He cannot be reformulated, served differently, or adapted to dietary requirements. His adaptability, whilst impressive for a fictional character, operates within narrower parameters.
